When they later return to the village, they are confronted by Mrs MacFarlane and fear for their freedom. However, they’re shocked when she gives them cash as a thank you as she hated her bullying husband!

Later, Eli spots a self-drawn tattoo on Lexi and guesses that she’s done time. Eli tries to blackmail her and a furious Lexi assumes that Chas has been gossiping about her.

Chas confronts Eli and insists that he stop giving Lexi a hard time – but she inadvertently lets slip more information, namely that Lexi was in jail in Mexico.

Eli continues his blackmail, but Lexi has had enough and instead of paying him his money, she confesses her jail time to Scarlett. Carrie is furious, while Scarlett is angry with Carrie for trying to hide the truth from her.

Matthew pays Perdy a visit and warns her not to trust Rosemary. Gray gets in and is angry to see Matthew there. Rosemary guesses from Gray’s reaction that Perdy and Matthew have history and she uses the information to try to convince Gray to get rid of Perdy.

Rosemary insinuates that Perdy is driving herself mad now that she can no longer have a child and she suggests that Perdy would be better off in hospital. Gray wonders if his mother is right.

Later Perdy is stunned when she goes into the attic to find the nursery filled with toys and baby things. Rosemary admits that she is trying to send Perdy round the bend so Perdy locks Rosemary in the attic. Gray and Paul find an hysterical Perdy locked in the attic with Rosemary and he hurries to phone an ambulance. Perdy is dragged kicking and screaming into an ambulance.

Perdy insists that Rosemary set her up, but the baby items were bought on Gray’s credit card, which only Perdy has access to.

However, Scarlett is still determined to win over Daz, but Victoria can’t resist winding her up. Victoria lies to Scarlett that Daz is a huge fan of Will Young, Take That and James Blunt and suggests that she make him a compilation CD.

Scarlett takes Vic’s advice and later gives Daz the compilation CD. Just as he is listening to it, Victoria turns up with Penny. Victoria tells Penny that Scarlett gave him the CD and Penny accuses Scarlett of trying to steal her man!

Scarlett is mortified when Penny and Victoria laugh at her musical tastes, but Daz stands up for Scarlett and has a go at them for bullying her.

When Carrie confronts Scarlett, she tries to explain that she just went to the clinic with a friend. But Carrie doesn’t believe her and demands to know who it was. Scarlett finally caves in and confesses it was Kelly.

She pleads with her mother not to tell anyone, but Carrie refuses and goes straight to Home Farm to accuse Kelly of being a bad influence. Kelly begs Carrie not to tell Jimmy and she agrees as long as Kelly stays away from Scarlett.

Kelly later heads to her modelling job – but the photographer tells her she’s been dropped. She rushes to Pear Tree Cottage to see Jimmy, but only finds Carrie – who tells her the risk she is playing over her selfish abortion. They argue and Kelly slaps Carrie just as Jimmy arrives back.

Carrie reports the assault to the police and Kelly is shocked when the police turn up to question her about hitting Carrie. Kelly denies it and is pleased when Jimmy backs up her lie.

However, Jimmy insists she has to apologise to Carrie. Kelly is worried that Carrie will tell Jimmy about the abortion so is happy to do that. But Carrie’s not taken in and she warns Kelly that if she ever crosses her again she’ll ruin everything for her.

She later offers Sam some childrearing advice and she’s ecstatic when Sam tells her that her tips worked. Viv decides she’s going to take the childcare world by storm and tells Emily that she’s going to set up her own session at the playgroup.

She later worries that not enough people will turn up to her parenting class, so gets Bob to walk around the village with a sandwich board.

A good number of people turn up, but Viv is humiliated when they ridicule her parenting tips. Bob tries to reassure her, but he also hopes she will now let it drop.

He tries to reassure her, but she takes little comfort and asks him to just hold her. He’s surprised to see her so vulnerable.

When Grace later investigates Carrie’s assault claim, she decides to use the opportunity to question Matthew about Tom’s murder, still intent on proving he’s the killer. Furious, Matthew rings DS Desari to make a complaint about her. As Grace leaves, an opportunistic Carl grabs her for a kiss, but Dasari sees them and gives Grace an ultimatum – end the affair or he’ll tell Vaughan and her career will be over.

Grace breaks up with Carl and tells him their relationship was just a bit of fun. Heartbroken, Carl hits the bottle and blurts out to Matthew and Jimmy that he’s been sleeping with Grace.
