Lexi, Debbie and Chas celebrate their heist

Classic Emmerdale: Debbie double crosses Lexi and Chas

Debbie and Lexi plan their big jewellery heist and Chas reluctantly agrees to join them as she’s worried about Debbie. Chas manages to blag an invite to the party by asking Paul if she can work behind the bar, while Debbie gets her invite after sabotaging Bruce’s car then offering to fix it for him in exchange for an party invite.

The girls prepare for their jewellery heist and as the collection is unveiled, the girls decide on a necklace to steal. Debbie distracts Bruce, while Lexi causes a power cut. Chas diverts Rodney by spilling champagne on him. Debbie then grabs the necklace. Rodney, who is in charge of the event, is horrified to discover that the necklace is missing.

Rodney is sure that the girls are behind the theft but he is unable to prove it. Meanwhile, Debbie tells Lexi that she’s hidden the necklace in a safe.

Debbie, Lexi and Chas are eager to find a buyer for their stolen necklace and they approach Eric, who quickly realises that it’s been knocked off. A wily Eric tells Debbie that he’s found a buyer, but he wants 50 per cent of the profits for arranging the sale. Debbie decides to double-cross the others. She tells them she turned down Eric’s offer, but she plots to cut her own deal with Eric and replace the necklace with a fake to keep Chas and Lexi out of the picture.

Debbie gets a convincing fake necklace from one of Eric’s contacts and successfully swaps it for the real one. The girls look for a secure hiding place and head to the church, but they’re disturbed by Emily, and Lexi drops it into the communion wine!

Rodney accuses Bruce of running a scam

Rodney is suspicious when he finds out that Debbie and Lexi have been hanging around the church and he searches the church for signs of the necklace. Emily mentions that the girls had been trying to get their hands on the communion wine and he confiscates the bottle, but he’s shocked when he realises the necklace is a fake. Meanwhile, the girls think the necklace is gone for good when Emily tells them that the wine bottles have been sent for recycling.

Rodney tells Matthew that he’s retrieved the missing necklace, but when Matthew learns that it’s a fake, they suspect jewellery salesman Bruce of running a scam. Bruce is furious when Rodney accuses him of selling replica jewellery and he storms over to find Debbie to see what she knows about it.

Eli sees Bruce getting physical with Debbie so he steps in and leaves Bruce battered and bleeding. Lexi and Chas learn that the necklace is a fake, but Lexi is suspicious and thinks Debbie knows more than she’s letting on.

Lexi later hears Eli saying that he saved Debbie’s neck and she buys him a drink to find out more. Eli admits that he saved Debbie from being attacked by Bruce. Lexi admits her suspicions that Debbie has double-crossed her and Eli agrees to help her find out more.

Donna sets Eli up

Eli makes more threats to Donna and reminds her that she won’t dare bring him down. Donna is furious when Eli later turns up at Tall Trees Cottage and announces that he’s moving back in. Marlon promises that he will get rid of Eli, but he tells them that he’ll only leave if they pay him off.

A miserable Marlon considers giving himself up to the police, but Donna comes up with a plan to get rid of Eli for good. She gives Eli the ‘password’ to a warehouse and tells him to steal whatever he wants.

Eli turns up at the warehouse ready to do the robbery and he calls Donna, who gives him a false password to turn off the alarm. Marlon panics when Donna tells him that she’s set up Eli to get him arrested.

Marlon is sure that Eli will take him down with him so tells Eli that the police are on the way. Eli manages to do a runner in time.

A worried later Donna decides to tell Zak the whole sorry tale to see if he can sort things out.

Eli and Marlon have a showdown

Zak can’t believe how stupid Marlon has been but he agrees to sort things out.

The Dingle patriarch forces Eli to confess to his blackmail, but Eli admits that he never intended to grass up Marlon – he just wanted to make him sweat.

Fuming Zak orders Eli to leave the village and Marlon and Donna are relieved that Eli has gone. But the relief is short-lived as Eli later bundles him into a van and ties his hands together.

Eli forces Marlon to the edge of a multi-story car park and reveals his long-held resentment towards his brother. Eli admits that he got Lilith off the charges so that he could scupper Marlon’s chance to take her kids. A furious Marlon works his hands free from the ropes and takes a swing at Eli.

The brothers fight and Eli throws a punch. Eli slips, topples over the edge and is left clinging by his fingers. Donna arrives and her and Marlon manage to pull Eli up. Eli drives off in the van to see Zak. He tries to convince Zak to let him stay for the night, but Zak disowns him. Eli then breaks into a house and crumples against the wall, crying.

Marlon and Donna pledge to fight harder for their marriage, but Donna warns that they won’t be able to go back to normal straightaway.

Laurel is being driven round the bend by her interfering mum, who even tries to organise one of Ashley’s funerals.
