Wedding bells in Classic Emmerdale

Paul and Diane are surprised to get an invitation to Paul’s half-sister Sharon’s wedding and worry about whether Val’s been invited. They soon find out when Val breezes in, seemingly unaware of her daughter’s impending nuptials.

Still in the dark about Sharon’s arrival, Val explains to Diane that they’re estranged because Sharon stole from her when she was younger.

Meanwhile, Paul comes face to face with his sister and orders her to leave. But Diane’s more calm and encourages Sharon to make it up with her mum.

Later Val reads about Sharon’s wedding in a magazine, and she heads off to the hotel. When she finds out that Sharon’s told her husband-to-be that Val’s dead, she starts drinking…

Sharon’s furious when she finds her mum, alive and kicking and very drunk at the hotel. She throws her out in front of the paparazzi after revealing the truth about their argument.

To make things worse, a hungover Val sees her drunken exploits all over the front page of the Hotten Courier. Diane and Paul are furious to discover the truth about Val.

Val tries to make amends with her son, but he won’t budge. She spends a miserable birthday without her kids, while Eric steps in to try to help.

But even at home, Viv struggles with Heath’s crying and tries to palm the babies off on whoever she can. But her patience runs out when she overhears Bob complaining about her behaviour on the baby monitor. She storms out of the post office.

Viv’s got an idea to help though. She suggests to Bob that Emily quit her job at the shop so she can help Viv care for the twins full time. Bob’s wary! And when Viv asks Emily, she’s not keen either, worried about what happened with Sarah.

Bob arrives home with a plan to apply for his old job at Naughty Nylons to raise some cash. He practises his sales techniques on Paul, who proves a tricky customer. But later he cancels his interview, and Viv’s delighted.

Bob’s thrilled when his brother Eddie shows up and offers him a job – at Naughty Nylons!

Soon they’re all arguing over arrangements. But as the funeral starts everyone’s distracted by a mystery mourner. She is revealed to be Carrie Nicholls – a nurse who cared for Tom’s first wife when she was dying.

Meanwhile, Barraclough and Desari keep an eye on the mourners.

The next day, it’s the reading of Tom’s will and everyone’s shocked by what’s revealed – Scarlett Nicholls is a beneficiary. And there’s another shock when they realise Scarlett is Tom’s daughter!
