It’s been a while since we last saw Bernice, after she committed fraud in her sister Nicola’s name back in 2023. But now, two years later, Bernice is back in the village for Gabby’s wedding day. So, is she sticking around? And what’s to come for Bernice? Here’s everything we know about Samantha Giles’ shock Emmerdale return as Bernice. In tonight’s visit to Emmerdale (September 15), Bernice made her surprise return. article continues below Read all the latest spoilers Just as Gabby was getting ready for her big day, with Kim, Laurel and Arthur, Bernice marches in and declares that she doesn’t think there should be a wedding. Gabby plays dumb, but it’s clear she knows exactly what Bernice is talking about. But after the bride-to-be headed to have a chat with Vinny, she returned and told Bernice that the wedding would be going ahead. Not happy, Bernice ended up sitting alone on a bench outside, just as Nicola and Bob appeared. Nicola was instantly furious at Bernice for returning, but Bob seemed to be quite pleased… Samantha is not returning permanently (Credit: ITV) Is Samantha Giles staying? While Emmerdale fans may be thrilled to have Bernice back on their screens, it was reported that it would only be a temporary return. Back in June, when Bernice’s return was reported, The Sun confirmed it would not be a permanent comeback. They reported: “Everything is being kept hush hush. But of course Bernice’s return is a big deal as one of the soap’s most loved characters. “And Samantha being back among the cast is a real win too. Everyone loves working with her.” But just because Bernice isn’t sticking around long-term doesn’t mean she can’t cause a bit of chaos while she’s here. After getting the cold shoulder from Gabby and Nicola, Bernice turns to Bob for comfort. She admits she doesn’t know if she’ll ever be forgiven for her past and is determined to build bridges. Later, Bernice and Bob share a bottle of wine and a trip down memory lane. Conversation soon turns to their romantic history and it’s clear there’s still a spark. But will they act on it? What else happened in Emmerdale tonight? Aside from Bernice's shock return, it was quite an eventful episode of Emmerdale tonight. Vinny found himself at a crossroads and had to finally make a huge decision. Elsewhere John continued to annoy all of us viewers by pretending to be the victim. Kim and Gabby made up After Laurel managed to talk some sense into her, Kim realised that Gabby was a part of her family. And she wanted to be a part of the wedding. But while she and Laurel were going head-to-head to see who would walk Gabby down the aisle, the bride actually chose Arthur. Gabby went to see Vinny Struggling with any idea on how to get Mike off his back, Vinny was concerned that Gabby would find out the truth about everything. But after some words from Bernice, Gabby went to speak to Vinny. She admits something has been wrong, and while he's ready to assume the worst, she switches up and asks him to officially adopt Thomas. Vinny agrees, leaving Gabby thrilled and him stressed. Vinny headed to the police station in Emmerdale tonight When Mandy and Kammy head in to check on Vinny, they're shocked to realise he wasn't there anymore. But that's when we see Vinny arrive at the police station, ready to report what's happened. Claudette and Liam had an awkward encounter Liam and Claudette had plans to meet at the allotment, but when Claudette arrives she was horrified to find Liam urinating outside. Claudette ran away in horror as Liam tried to explain it wasn't what it looked like. John the 'walking miracle' continued to act like a victim in Emmerdale tonight John was up and walking, boasting to Vic that the doctors called him a "walking miracle". The pair chat about the helpline, but John made her believe he was only feeling down because of Robert. Chas went to visit him, but when she brought up Aaron's state, John told her there's a chance he will never wake up. And if he does, he might not make a full recovery. Although, the killer almost tripped himself up when he said "to you" and Chas had to correct him "to us" when speaking about Aaron coming back. Victoria then headed to see Robert, who was determined to get her to believe his side of events. When will someone realise John is the villain here? Celia and Moira made an illegal deal Short-staffed Ross and Moira were struggling to get all the work done. But when Celia arrives she hands Moira a contract that could help both of them out. However, Moira quickly realises it would be an illegal deal and the paperwork would take ages. So, Celia tells her they should get ahead and start now.
