Does Caleb help John leave Emmerdale? All the theories on what happens next from bringing him to the police to murder

Caleb doesn't want Ruby to go to prison

Emmerdale ended on quite the cliffhanger as Caleb Miligan may help John get out of the country – to ensure Ruby stays out of prison.

John’s lies have all unravelled and now everyone knows the truth about what he did to Nate – and a lot of other things. But obviously, John still has his hold on some villagers as he is the only one who knows where Anthony is buried.

This came into play tonight, when he blackmailed Caleb into getting him out of the country. And if he doesn’t, then they all go down with him.

John blackmailed Caleb

In tonight’s visit to Emmerdale, John was sneaking around the village without a care in the world – even though there were quite a lot of police cars.

He even bumped into Harry, while he was lurking in Victoria’s house. But when Harry was wondering what he was doing, he made the youngster believe it was a surprise. And even though Harry heard them all discussing John in the pub, he still didn’t tell anyone.

But then John went to the Depot, and used the last card he has left – Anthony’s body. While Caleb told him he wouldn’t help, he quickly realised John wasn’t lying about bringing Ruby down.

And so, they agreed to meet at the Depot the next morning to get John out of the country.

But Emmerdale fans aren’t so sure that Caleb will actually help him. And have taken to social media and Reddit to discuss their theories.

1. Caleb brings John to the police

If Caleb has John in the car then it’s the perfect opportunity to drive him straight to the police station. The only thing that would stop him is John’s promise to destroy Ruby.

One fan wrote: “Surely Caleb just drives John to the station and then he’s arrested?”

Caleb’s not one to let his family down. But right now he’s got to decide what to do next. And whatever he does, he will not want Ruby to go to prison.

2. Does Caleb murder John?

Another way to ensure John never gets to tell anyone that Ruby killed Anthony is to murder John himself. Not only would it mean nobody can ever know the truth, but it would also bring John’s storyline to a close.

And while a lot of fans would love to see him face justice, Caleb may find killing him is his only option.

One fan wrote on Reddit: “I wonder if Caleb is just going to use this as an opportunity to off John? Honestly, John has some nerve trying to blackmail Caleb and then being fine with getting in a car alone with him.”

3. Or will the Dingle’s team-up?

Another popular Emmerdale theory is that Caleb will take John straight to Cain Dingle. And if he does that, then John probably wouldn’t be walking away unscathed.

“How has Caleb not called Cain yet to handle John? Surely he’ll do that instead of getting him out of the country” a fan penned online.

If Cain were to hear that Caleb knows where John is, we are sure that he would want to take his revenge. John played him for months, and killed his son – it’s only natural for Cain Dingle to go after him.

4. John gets away

Of course, there is another direction the storyline could go. Caleb could actually get John out of the country. And if he does, then that leaves it open for him to return and bring even more torment whenever he wishes.

One fan penned: “What if Caleb actually does get John out of the country? A final showdown would be still to come at some point then..”

If Caleb did help John, and if Cain or Aaron found out, we can only imagine the divide it will cause in the Dingle’s.

Cain blamed everybody in Emmerdale tonight

In true Cain fashion, he put the blame on everybody in the village for missing the signs that John was a murderer. But even he didn't see it.

In the pub, Cain turned on Vic for letting John live in the village, convinced that she knows something. And again told Chas that he didn't care about Aaron.

However, later, Tracy managed to speak to him, reminding him that even they were fooled by John. But the only thing Cain cares about is getting justice for Nate.

April tried to confide in Ross

With the stress of everything to do with Ray hanging over her, April asked Ross if they could have a chat.

But while she was speaking to him, Ross was clearly distracted by farm stuff on his phone and gave April some quick advice before leaving.

Ray discovered Dylan's job in Emmerdale tonight

In the village, Ray spotted April, trying to get her to do another job. But she was busy and told him Dylan got the Depot position and couldn't do any either.

But this was actually good news for Ray, as he headed to see Dylan at his new job.

When there, he told Dylan that now he can use the vans to do more deals for him. While Dylan wasn't interested, Ray told him they would discuss it more at another time.
