Adam Thomas has revealed if he will ever return to Emmerdale as the iconic Adam Barton. And his answer may be surprising.

Adam Barton first appeared on our screens way back in 2009. But in 2018, nearly a decade later, he said goodbye to the village and hasn’t been seen since. The Barton boy took the fall for Emma’s murder, covering for his own mum, Moira. But instead of going to prison, Adam decided to go on the run.

And now, seven years later, Adam Thomas has shed light on why we haven’t seen him return to Emmerdale yet. Especially with their recent amazing returnees.

Where is Adam Barton?

While Adam hasn’t been seen on-screen in many years, he has had quite a few mentions. And fans are all eager for him to return.

Adam went travelling, but a few years ago it appeared he had settled down in Budapest, Hungary. And it was revealed to us that he had met someone while there, ending his and Vic’s relationship.

Since then, we haven’t had exact updates as to what country he is in, or if he’s still with the woman. But Aaron and Moira have both individually visited him on separate occasions. So it appears that he definitely keeps in touch with the villagers.

Will Adam Thomas return to Emmerdale?

Adam has teased an Emmerdale return a few times. But on the most recent episode of his podcast, The Thomas Brothers, he spoke to his brothers, Ryan and Scott about why he has not made a return yet.

Adam’s twin brother, Scott, asked him: “Would you ever go back to Emmerdale?” And Adam was immediately up for it.

He said: “I would if they asked me to. I’d like to. I always see it come on and I think ‘I would love to go back’.”

But as for why he hasn’t, the answer is very simple – he has never been asked.

Adam told his brothers: “They’ve not asked me back. So, it’s just that. I don’t know why. They’ve asked Ryan to go back to Corrie. But they’ve never asked me to go back to Emmerdale. And I don’t know why.”

The brothers went on to discuss the upcoming Emmerdale and Coronation Street cross-over where two characters from the soaps will meet. And they joked that it would be amazing for it to be their characters.

Emmerdale have been on a roll lately with their returns. First we got Ross Barton, then Joe Tate and finally, Robert Sugden. So add Adam to that list and it would for sure be a very iconic time for Emmerdale.

And the return of Adam would bring about so many possibilities. So, can the Emmerdale team please call Adam up? We would LOVE Adam Barton back.
