Emmerdale icon Danny Miller has proved that his funny nature isn’t just on-screen as he once got a warning after a very elaborate prank.

The Emmerdale studios at ITV are unsurprisingly linked to all the other studios – including rival soap Coronation Street’s. While it seems not everyone was able to find a way to contact the Corrie team, Danny and his unnamed accomplice knew how to.

Danny revealed he does an amazing Kevin Webster impression, and this came in very handy when he wanted to prank the Corrie team.

Danny Miller pulled elaborate prank on Coronation Street

Speaking on Luke Hamnett’s Live, Laugh Luke Podcast, Danny admitted he had never “told anyone” the story before.

He explained: “We used to have these phones in the green room that would call pretty much internally anyone at ITV. However, we managed to get a hold of certain numbers that would attach us to Coronation Street’s department.”

Danny admitted they first called the lighting department, and they immediately believed his impression of Michael Le Vell. During this phone call, Danny – pretending to be Mike – told the man that he had to take place in a “charity boxing match against Emmerdale”. And when the man went to ask more questions, he hung up.

Then they got through to the Corrie green room when a “nameless cast member” answered the phone. Once again, they immediately believed they were talking to Mike.

He asked them to “sign a couple of scripts” for a boxing match. And when they pointed out they had just seen him, Danny quickly hung up.

Danny – who recently welcomed his third child -added: “While this is going on, we’re filming this and sending it into a group of 30 friends. One of which used to work at Emmerdale but then moved to Coronation Street. Which is key to the story.”

He was given ‘official warning’ after prank

But it was the third call which ended up being the most extreme out of all. Danny phoned hair and makeup, and pretended that Mike had shaved all of his hair off. So everything would have needed re-filmed.

Danny was then called to film. But on his way down, received a phone call from a production manager.

He explained: “He said ‘Once you’re finished these two scenes, come up to the office we need to talk to you. We know what you have been doing. Danny we know it was you’.”

As it turned out, head of hair and makeup burst into the rooms, telling the Corrie crew that they needed to reshoot everything because Mike had shaved his hair off.

Danny admitted this is when his friend revealed all. He said: “My friend went ‘oh no it was just a prank’. All the heads in the room asked him how he knew. He had no choice and I don’t blame him at all. He showed it to them.”

But as it turns out, Danny and his accomplice got given official warnings for the prank.

“We got taken up and got official warnings. They were fuming about it. I had to email an apology and then email Mike to apologise. So that’s how I almost got sacked from Emmerdale for messing about.”
