It comes after the summer months saw hundreds of objections raised to the broadcasting regulator over other Emmerdale scenes. April thinks she killed Callum (Credit: ITV) Complaints pour in over Emmerdale scenes According to Ofcom, the body that keeps track of things deemed inappropriate on TV and radio, 60 people sent in protestations over the Emmerdale episode that aired on Thursdsay October 30, 2025. In the episode, April Windsor was sold for sex by Celia Daniels. She was sent to meet Callum, a man who had paid to be with her. Despite him appearing nice at first and suggesting April didn’t have to do anything she didn’t want to, he soon turned on her. He collapsed apparently dead on the bed leaving April horrified over what she had done. Although it has not been explicitly stated these are the scenes being referred to in the Ofcom complaints, it seems more than likely they are. The next day April called Ray who came to clear up the body and cover the whole thing up. Celia then made more vile threats to April and told her she ‘owns her’ – something which fans also blasted as ‘repulsive’. April now thinks she has killed a man, but viewers know better. Last night (Wednesday November 5) Callum was seen with Ray. Bandaged up and quite whingey about what had happened, but overall completely alive and well. Vinny was hurt by Mike (Credit: ITV) Complaints over Vinny assualt It comes after rather a packed summer of complaints. In an episode airing on August 12, Vinny Dingle was brutally targeted by newcomer Mike in a shocking, homophobic attack. Vinny had been confused about his sexuality befriended a man called Mike in an online support group. However, it soon became clear that Mike was not who he said he was – and this was actually all part of shocking money-making scam. Mike then physically attacked Vinny and hurled abuse at him over his sexuality. Mike also forced Vinny to transfer £10k to his account, threatening him with a recording of their earlier conversation if he didn’t. Fans were left horrified by Vinny’s attack, which aired on ITV before the 9pm watershed, and complained to Ofcom. The television regulator confirmed that around 279 complaints were made about the scenes. A spokesperson from Ofcom said: “Complaints objected to violent and sexual content before the watershed.” Mackenzie was shot (Credit: ITV) More Emmerdale trouble over Mackenzie Boyd ‘death’ Later in August, Ofcom got even more complaints over an episode airing on August 21 which saw John Sugden hunt down Mack with a bow and arrow. As the two men played cat and mouse through the woods, John shot Mack with an arrow. Mack was at John’s mercy, as he struggled for breath due to the arrow piercing his lung. John then lifted a large rock and brought it down on Mack’s head, seemingly killing him. Ofcom received 158 formal complaints over the episode in question.
