Emmerdale fans are not happy with some scenes that aired earlier this week – so much so they are complaining to Ofcom.

Vinny Dingle has had a horrible time lately. But this week saw extremely distressing scenes air where he was beat up very badly. And it was so horrific that a lot of viewers are complaining.

Emmerdale airs at 7.30pm before the 9pm watershed. And while it usually covers a large range of heavy topics, many found this too uncomfortable to watch. But this isn’t the first time Emmerdale fans have complained to the broadcasting company.

Vinny was attacked

After meeting ‘Mike’, Vinny finally opened up to him about his confusing thoughts regarding his sexuality.

While Mike initially acted as though he was there for Vinny, things turned very sinister when he showed up to his house and revealed the truth.

‘Mike’ was in fact not a user of the same social chat forum. But instead he was using Vinny’s situation to get money from him. And when Vinny refused, Mike turned violent.

He horrifically beat Vinny up. And ultimately left with the money he wanted – and their wedding rings.

But after the attack, Vinny was left with flash-backs to his horrible abusive father. And the poor lad looked absolutely broken.

However, it seems the scenes definitely affected the viewers as many Emmerdale fans headed to Ofcom to slam the horrific scenes.

Emmerdale fans head to Ofcom

Ofcom regulates the content on TV and radio, ensuring the services are safe and fair. And it seems many thought the episode should not have aired at the same time-slot.

Taking to X and Reddit, Emmerdale fans aired their reactions to Vinny’s horrible abuse.

One wrote: “I had to fire a complaint to Ofcom. I am disgusted with how what used to be a family show has morphed into something that seems to be trying to show as much violence and depravity as it can squeeze into each episode.”

“7.30pm is far too early for this sort of muck” another added.

A third penned: “This storyline and episode is disgusting. Vinny reaches out to a support group and gets a homophobe and a blackmailer. Not the time-slot to air all of this…”

“I knew there was something fishy about this bloke when Vinny first met him. But I wish Emmerdale hadn’t got as dark as this. I much prefer the old.”

With John the serial killer and now this, it seems Emmerdale doesn’t have as much funny moments as fans would like…
