Over the last few months, Emmerdale has been putting quite a lot of focus onto their IVF storyline. And soaps have the platform to raise awareness for these types of topics. And while it hasn’t exactly followed a realistic structure from the start, it was still able to showcase that having a baby through IVF is accessible and possible. However, the latest Emmerdale twist this week saw it revealed that Ross and Charity had slept together the night everyone was hoping she had hooked up with Vanessa. While she probably would have been pregnant by that point already, Ross is worried the baby might be his. And now Emmerdale fans are annoyed that a ‘Who’s the daddy’ plot has taken over the storyline. And she was thrilled when her grand-mother decided to be her surrogate, despite her own husband not being to keen. But Charity was adamant that she would make Sarah’s baby dream come true. And she was determined to not risk ruining things at all. As in a shocking turn of events it was revealed she had hooked up with Ross Barton. While fans did predict Charity would end up pregnant with Mack’s baby instead of Sarah’s, they didn’t ever predict that Ross would be a potential candidate. Ross and Charity slept together! (Credit: ITV) Fans aren’t happy with the Ross and Charity twist It seems everyone is confused about the Emmerdale timeline as realistically Charity couldn’t have gotten pregnant with Ross’ baby. Taking to a Reddit thread, one fan fumed: “This IVF storyline is an embarrassment. They didn’t even bother to do the most basic research. I’m hoping it will turn out Charity just isn’t knowledgable and it is confirmed to be Sarah’s baby. Logically it’s the only possibility but I’m sure they will have it be Ross’.” Another added: “I don’t think they are making any attempts at realism here. It’s as if they are living in an alternate universe in which weeks pass between scenes. I do hope the baby is Sarah’s though. Quite aside from anything else, I don’t see any mileage in giving Charity and Ross another baby.” “It’s frustrating because they claim to take so much care with certain storylines and insist they are trying to accurately portray the issue.
