Emmerdale exit looms for John

Villains tend to have a short life span in soaps and John is no exception, with his exit expected imminently.

His crimes include the tragic murder of Nate Robinson, for which he framed Owen.

John has struggled with a hero complex in which he has also put the likes of Jacob, Liam and Chas in danger before ultimately saving them.

Recently, Mack discovered a clue in John’s van and realised his best mate’s husband was responsible for Nate’s death. However, before he was able to tell anyone, John shot him with a bow and arrow – as you do.

John is currently keeping Mack hostage in an underground bunker in the woods, but the walls are closing in on him.

Spoilers reveal that after discovering the truth about Aaron sleeping with Robert, John goes to extreme measures to make sure Aaron doesn’t leave him.

With Robert discovering the truth about his evil brother, he can only watch in horror as John grabs Aaron Dingle and jumps into a gorge. But with yet another person suspicious of John, it can only be a matter of time before the whole village realises the truth.

Fans feel sorry for John Sugden in Emmerdale

Fans have previously been eager for John to get his comeuppance. But now some fans have done a u-turn and have started to feel sorry for him.

“Poor Mack. I think Aaron will save him. I think he will follow John into the woods and he will see John go into the bunker,” wrote one fan. “It will all be over for John then. I do feel sorry for John, it’s obvious that he is mentally scared. He really thinks that he is helping people. He needs to be needed and that is sad.”

A second fan agreed, writing: “Poor John. He shouldn’t be locked up… he needs treatment for a bad mental condition he’s suffering from.”

A third fan wrote on X: “This may cause some controversy and as much as I am thrilled that Aaron confirmed he’s unsure about being with John, from John’s P.O.V I can’t imagine how much it stings for your worse fears to be confirmed that the person you thought loved you doesn’t actually love you at all.”
