Even though he literally just spent two weeks in an underground bunker. It’s not been a great time for Mackenzie Boyd, after John held him hostage for quite some time after he discovered the truth about Nate. But while that was going on, Charity Dingle thought he had left her because she agreed to be Sarah’s surrogate. She was also dealing with the fact she cheated on Mack and the baby she’s carrying may actually be Ross Barton’s. And now that Mack is back – fans wish he had more time to recover. Mack went through a lot in the bunker (Credit: ITV) Mack is straight back into the baby plot It was only a few days ago that Mack got out of the bunker. While he was there, he was shot in the shoulder with a crossbow, his ankle was smashed with a rock and he was drugged numerous times. As soon as Charity heard what had happened, she was obviously distraught that she believed the worst, knowing deep down that Mack wouldn’t just abandon her. article continues below Read all the latest spoilers While she has been trying to make him rest, she has also been avoiding him – all thanks to her cheating secret. Mack promised Charity he would be there for her throughout the surrogacy. And that they were going to be the best great-grandparents to the unborn baby. However, Charity was clearly struggling with her guilt the entire time. The immediate switch from his bunker storyline to the baby plot has left some viewers annoyed. But whenever he almost died, everyone realised what an asset he actually is to the show. And how Emmerdale would not be the same without him. So, now that he is out and has just been immediately thrown into a storyline which doesn’t focus on his recovery, fans are annoyed. Taking to X, one fan fumed: “Genuinely really annoying that Mack is getting thrown back into the surrogacy storyline straight after everything with John. Can we please see his recovery before his story revolved around Charity, Ross and the surrogacy. There was actually an interesting story building there.” Another fan agreed: “I would much rather see Mack grapple with what happened in the bunker. And be confused about his feelings toward John. Instead of going straight back to surrogacy drama.” A third commented: “He also tried to tell Charity how he had been feeling in the bunker and she completely changed the subject.” Some fans had been theorising that Mack may struggle with a drug addiction after being injected so many times.
