Emmerdale fans perform U-turn on Ray as they believe he will actually save April and Dylan from Celia

Ray has been manipulating April for months

For months Emmerdale fans have hated the character of Ray due to his manipulative ways with Dylan and April, but it was recently revealed that Celia was really in a charge.

Since he arrived on the show, Ray has been telling April and Dylan that he has a big boss who makes the rules. And fans didn’t believe him. Instead, we all thought he was the one in charge, pretending he had someone above him.

However, in a huge twist, last week it was revealed that newcomer Celia was actually Ray’s big boss. Not only that, but she took him and raised him. So much that he actually calls her ‘mum’. And it’s safe to say – he looks terrified of her.

Celia has all the power in Emmerdale

Ray has been manipulating April and Dylan into drug drop-offs for quite some time. And even orchestrated for things to go wrong so that they would be forced to make up for it.

Now that April is fully involved in the dealing side of things, and Dylan is learning to drive, the youngsters are more involved than ever. But that’s right when the biggest twist came.

When little Leo was rushed to hospital after April left him home alone and he took some of her drugs, all April wanted to do was tell the truth. But it was Celia who talked her out of it.

And that’s when everything fell into place. She was actually Ray’s big boss, and the true mastermind behind it all. And judging by the way she spoke to Ray, it’s clear he has to do what she says or else there will be consequences.

Could Ray actually save April and Dylan?

But now that Emmerdale fans know the truth about Celia and Ray, some can’t help but feel sorry for him. And even predict that he will turn out to be good in the long run.

Taking to Reddit, Emmerdale fans discussed how the soap actually seems to be “humanising” Ray.

One wrote: “They are humanising Ray. He’s not the villain after all, just another victim like Dylan. I think they’re going to have to get rid of Celia. The kingpin role doesn’t usually last forever. Celia has shown enough crazy to make this interesting. But the revelation makes her unredeemable.”

Another agreed: “Celia seems to be an honest-to-god psychopath. Ray seems like an older version of Dylan.”

And it’s because of this that some fans actually think Ray will step up against Celia in order to save April and Dylan.

One fan wrote on social media: “It wouldn’t surprise me if Ray actually ends up going against Celia. They might be trying to make his character redeemable and the only way to do that is for him to help April and Dylan.”

While it’s clear Ray has been through a lot too at the hands of Celia, he has been extremely involved in making April and Dylan deal drugs. So if we are expected to feel sympathy for him, it really would take him saving them.

Whether or not Ray turns on Celia remains to be seen. But the storyline has definitely picked up quite quickly.
