Mack could be in for a tough time

Mackenzie Boyd has finally got free from John Sugden’s underground bunker, but Emmerdale fans think Mack is headed for an even more difficult few months.

John’s lies may have been revealed – but he still hasn’t been caught. And the aftermath of his reign of terror is going to have lengthy repercussions for quite a lot of villagers.

Aaron’s definitely going to have some trouble accepting everything that happened. And after spending weeks being drugged in the bunker, Mack is bound to have some issues too. But some fans fear it may be more than that.

Mack’s time in the underground bunker

Mack discovered that John killed Nate while he was unfortunately alone with him. And when John realised he knew the truth, he chased Mack through the woods with a bow and arrow.

Mack was shot in the shoulder, and viewers spent a few days believing he was dead. But, in reality Mack was very much alive – just being kept in an underground basement.

While keeping him there, John would consistently drug him to keep him unconscious. And when he had decided he would never return, he left Mack with a vial of drugs to take himself.

When he was brought to the hospital, it was clear Mack had quite a substantial amount of drugs in his system. And now, some fans fear that having that much in such a short period of time, may actually lead to a drug storyline.

Emmerdale fans fear he is heading for an addiction storyline

Taking to X, one viewer penned: “Mack’s drug addiction storyline looms.”

Another replied: “Now why would you say this..”

“OMG yes. Such a classic storyline to do. Poor Mack” a third added.

Another fan took to Reddit to remind everyone that Mack did have a connection with Ray at the beginning.

They wrote: “I’m scared Mack will become addicted to the drugs. Especially because he knows Ray so he would know where to get them.”

Whether or not Mack will become reliant on drugs remains to be seen. But given how long he was done there for, he’s definitely going to have a hard time adjusting.

And let’s not forget Moira had to watch her daughter, Holly, experience a full drug addiction. So, if her brother was about to go through the same thing, there would be some pretty heartbreaking scenes to watch.
