Has Mack left Emmerdale? Everything Lawrence Robb has said about exiting the soap

Speculation is rife that Mack is dead - or is he?

We haven’t seen Mack in Emmerdale since John Sugden seemingly brought a rock down on his head – so has he left the soap or is there a twist in the tale still to come?

Mack appeared to meet a grisly end at the hands of John – but is he really dead? There has been no official statement and no word from actor Lawrence Robb on his soap future and Emmerdale really has left us hanging on this one.

So what has Lawrence said? And what do we know from other sources?

What happened to Mack in Emmerdale and where is he now?

Last week Mackenzie discovered John Sugden was close pals with the removal man who’d identified Owen in the Nate murder investigation. Mack joined the dots and realised John killed Nate.

Mack joined John for a drive and it soon became clear John knew that Mack knew. They fought and Mack got away, but tripped and rolled down a hill. John was right behind him with a bow and arrow (of course he was!)

John insisted that he wasn’t really a murderer – it was about survival. Mack tried to run again, but John shot him with an arrow. As Mack fell to the ground, he accidentally answered his phone, with Charity’s voice being heard telling Mack to get to Aaron’s leaving drinks.

John pocketed Mack’s phone, as Mack begged for his life. John told Mack he used to hate him as he was too close to Aaron. He then added that he didn’t believe Mack would keep quiet and let his best mate stay married to a killer.

With Mack’s death looking inevitable, John lifted up a big rock and went to bring it down on Mack’s head. Later, a flashback showed the rock coming right down on Mack.

We also saw John wiping blood off his van. We then saw blood in the back, with what looked like a body covered with a blanket. John said to himself: “Guess I really am the bad guy.”

So has Mack left Emmerdale?

No official statement has been released regarding Mack’s future on the soap. But The Sun previously revealed that Lawrence Robb, who plays Mack, was leaving.

The publication reported that Mack will die. A source told them: “The scenes are going to be really harrowing for fans to watch. Mackenzie has been in so many scrapes and dangerous positions, but this time it looks like he’s bitten off more than he can chew.”

The insider added: “There are huge twists and turns coming throughout this storyline and it’s going to run for months and months.”

However, no exit interview has been given, which is usual on social media after someone departs and Emmerdale – and Lawrence – are staying tight-lipped.

What has Lawrence Robb said about his soap future?

Lawrence appeared on Loose Women last week, but wouldn’t give anything away. He said: “Yeah, there are lots of rumours, and rumours they shall remain.”

He added: “Ultimately, if and when the time for Mack to leave comes. Whether that might be my choice or the choice of the writers/producers, I’ll be thankful for the time that I’ve had.

“Ultimately, no one is safe in the show, certainly not in Emmerdale. It’s the most dangerous village in the country.”

In a previous interview with Emmerdale Insider and other media, Lawrence also said he believed John was more than capable of killing Mackenzie.

Speaking about the stag do storyline that saw their feud escalate at paintballing, Lawrence said: “The thing is with John, he obviously killed Nate, but he didn’t do it intentionally. Could he go all the way with Mackenzie? I absolutely do think so.

“If John were to fall into that spiral of being a serial killer, Mackenzie would be right at the top of that list. So on that basis, yeah, Mackenzie’s life is in jeopardy.”

What about Emmerdale, what has it said?

Show boss Laura Shaw also promised a huge Mack and Aaron storyline in the autumn.

Laura said their big story was coming up towards the end of the summer – which is now. It will run into autumn too, she confirmed.

“It’s a big week of episodes which is going to be life-changing for those two,” she explained.

Although she didn’t say whether it was related to what’s happening on screen at the moment or not, the fact it is set to go on into the autumn suggests Mack can’t be dead. Right?

Clues Mack is still alive in Emmerdale

Despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary, there are plenty of clues Mack is not dead at all. Firstly, we never saw the body – and we all know in Soapland that is a definite hint that all is not as it seems.

Secondly, as we’ve previously said there’s been no goodbye statement from Lawrence or Emmerdale itself. Also, Mack has yet to find out his wife tried to cheat with Vanessa and then did actually cheat with Ross and might be carrying his baby! Why throw that gem in if Mack isn’t alive to find out about it?

Spoilers for next week reveal that Charity receives a voice note from Mackenzie officially ending their marriage. How can he leave a voicemail if he’s dead, hmm?
