Emmerdale has aired the next step for Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle – but fans are not impressed with the move. Ever since Robert returned (and even before that) viewers have demanded that the couple – dubbed Robron – reunite. But it seems that’s not actually what they want. At least not now. Robert has a secret husband he’s forgotten to mention (Credit: ITV) Robert hiding more secrets Last week Aaron tried to kiss Robert, but Rob gently told him it wasn’t the right time for them to get back together. He put his sensible hat on and knew that Aaron had too much trauma to process off the back of John Sugden’s reign of terror, to jump feet first into another relationship. They agreed to just be mates and Robert said he would support Aaron every step of the way. However we then found out what else was stopping Robert: he’s married! article continues below Read all the latest spoilers On Monday (September 29) Robert was greeted by his husband from prison, Kev. It’s clear Kev was protecting Robert inside and that’s why they wed. But fans are convinced Kev is coercively controlling Robert and making Mr Sugden too scared to end things with him. Kev told Robert he only has six months to live and Rob then told Victoria Kev has a lot of money that he will inherit once Kev dies. Robert also said he cares about Kev and he wants to support him until the end. With Kev still inside and only granted day release on compassionate grounds, Robert thinks it should be pretty easy to hide this from Aaron. And besides, it’s not like he and Aaron are back together… Aaron has turned to Robert for support (Credit: ITV) Emmerdale airs Robert and Aaron twist in ITVX episode Despite Robert insisting it was too soon for Aaron to commit to him, Aaron is not giving up. After Chas gives him her blessing to pursue things with Robert if that’s what he wants, Aaron went to see his ex in today’s episode. He insisted he is ready and doesn’t have to get over John because Robert has always been who he wants. Robert was hesitant, but eventually agreed they could be together. He asked Aaron to keep it between them though, so people wouldn’t judge. Of course we know why he really wants to keep it on the downlow, don’t we? So Robert has started something with Aaron while lying to him. This can only end in tears when it all comes out – and it will all come out – and Robert should just have been honest. We all know that, but people in Soapland tend to not be sensible about these things. Robert’s got himself in a big mess (Credit: ITV) Fans react Those who have already streamed the episode online are not happy about the turn of events. Although a Robron reunion is what everyone has wanted in forever, they say not like this and not now. For a multitude of reasons this is not the right time – Aaron’s trauma and Robert’s secret husband. But Emmerdale has gone there and viewers have already started to make their feelings clear on social media. “Aaron clinging onto someone who made him happy once without dealing with the fact that he was betrayed, manipulated, lied to for a year by the guy he married way too quickly … in what world is this healthy? This is gonna blow up so so so badly,” sighed one. Another reasoned: “As a plot point it’s good. As a decision for Robert and Aaron’s future? It’s a catastrophe.” “Never thought I wouldn’t be over the moon to have them back together but this is just building up to disaster. Why is Emmerdale doing this to us? That’s just cruel,” added one more. A fourth wrote: “I’m sorry but I’m actually finding it hilarious that John has been gone for a WEEK and they’re already back together, it’s so messy.” “I hate that Robron are together so quickly, it’s just going to be a complete disaster,” agreed a fifth.
