Our Emmerdale review: Matty's brain cell, Kammy melting hearts and John Sugden turning up the drama!

What a week of Emmerdale
Carena Crawford

Well, that was a week and a half in Emmerdale this week, wasn’t it? Wow. John Sugden is still walking free and everyone thinks Robert is to blame.

No matter how frustrated we are, we can’t fault the action, that’s for sure. Here’s what we loved – and what we could have done without in Emmerdale this week.

The John Sugden drama

Emmerdale promised and they delivered – we had a showdown, a confession, we had brilliant acting, dramatic cliffhangers – quite literally – and we had what we thought was John Sugden’s bitter end.

The episode on Monday was like something out of a film with the atmosphere and lighting keeping us on the edge of our seats. Bravo to all involved, but special mention to Danny Miller (Aaron) Oliver Farnworth (John) and Ryan Hawley (Robert) – it was epic.

Matty Barton’s brain cell

He’s the only one in the village with one it would seem as he’s the only person who was prepared to hear Robert out. And he then urged Victoria to give her brother a chance too.

If Matty is the one to spark the end for John Sugden, he will go on our loved list for weeks to come!

Kammy!

He must be protected at all costs. He is such a brilliant friend to Vinny and really cares about him. Okay, so he messed up by trying to take on Mike and made things 10 times worse, but he was just trying to help.

Kammy genuinly just wants Vinny to be okay and be happy. Given everything Vinny has done to him, he’s quite lucky that’s the case to be honest.

Things we did not love in Emmerdale this week

John Sugden conning everyone

Okay, so whilst we loved the drama, we did not love everyone immediately turning on Robert and seeing John as the victim.

Why has no one put two and two together and realised that’s now two partners John has in a coma, hmm? And why is everyone so quick to dismiss fears for Mack?

Victoria

WHY is Victoria even contemplating her brother attacking the man who raped her equates to him being capable of physically hurting the man he loves?

Robert would never in a million years hurt Aaron and it’s shame on Emmerdale that they’ve written it so people think he would.

Victoria has known John for five minutes and yet she’s totally turned on the brother she grew up with. Sigh.

Chas (again)

Once again, Chas made herself the villain of the piece laying into Robert without a moment’s thought. She didn’t listen to Paddy, who told her not to act so rashly, nor did she listen to Robert as he told the truth.

Instead she just shouted her mouth off again, assuming she knew everything.

She has totally forgotten she too was suspicious of John just months ago and didn’t want him marrying her boy. And she is somehow blaming Robert for ruining Aaron’s happiness. Get in the bin, Chas.
