We love Kev, we're on Team Rhona, and we think Gabby's making a big mistake, in our Emmerdale review

And April paid the price when Celia showed her shocking true colours!

This week’s Emmerdale review is quite a long one because what a week it has been. Not only did we meet Robert Sugden’s ‘secret prison husband’, but Gabby found out all of Vinny’s secrets, AND as if that wasn’t enough, Celia turned out to be proper evil AND sort-of Ray’s mum!

Here’s everything we thought about the action in our Emmerdale review.

Dylan and April got in deeper

We’re not sure what we think about Dylan and April. We’re becoming increasingly sure that they’re not very nice people – troubled teens though they are. Because this week they did not cover themselves in glory. April headed out to deal some drugs, dropping ecstasy tablets on the way. Leo picked them up, ate one or maybe two, and ended up in hospital.

And things got worse from then on, to be honest.

We totally get that Dylan’s had an awful childhood. We’re not surprised he’s latched on to Ray because he’s possibly the only person who’s ever been kind to him. But come on, Dylan. A bit of concern for Leo might have been nice, rather than just worrying about protecting Ray.

And as for April. Well, first of all there was the massive reveal that Celia was the boss of Ray. And she revealed it in shocking style by whacking poor April round the face. OMG!

We did not see that coming.

Rhona looks suspicious

Rhona reached the end of her tether

Scared because Celia threatened her family, April lied to the police and the social worker about what had been going on.

But Rhona was already furious with the teenager and when she overheard April lying, she properly lost her temper.

And actually, we just think it’s about time. Because Marlon and Rhona have been tiptoeing around April for months, wanging on about how much she’s been through. We definitely think some tough love is long overdue when it comes to  April.

In fact, Celia calling her a “snivelling little rat” got the thumbs up from us. Sorry, April.

Celia showed her true colours

And speaking of Celia. Well, she showed her true colours this week, didn’t she? Despite us being fed up with April’s whining, she really didn’t deserve to be whacked round the chops like that.

Then Celia was properly vicious to Ray, who as it turned out she’d rescued from the streets when he was a lad. In fact, she was so nasty to him, we almost started to feel sorry for him. Which was unexpected.

And now she’s set her sights on Bob. Watch out, Bob! (And please don’t talk about nipples any more.)

Vinny and Gabby shared secrets

After weeks of Vinny lying and skulking around, his secret was finally revealed this week when he took to the witness stand in court.

His attacker, Mike, was charged with assault and extortion and he tried to get Vinny to change his statement. But though Vinny agreed, everything changed when he got to court. At first, it seemed like he was going to lie – especially when Gabby unexpectedly showed up. But Vinny bravely told the jury exactly what Mike had done. And why.

Mike got sent down, and Gabby’s heart was broken. “This is a lot,” she told Vinny, in the biggest understatement of the week.

But of course, Gabby was keeping her own secret, and the pair finally managed to put both revelations behind them and agree to try to make their marriage work.

Is this a good idea? We’re not sure. We’re just glad everyone knows it wasn’t Kammy who beat up Vinny!

Emmerdale Kev and Robert chat in the prison

Kev switches from adoration to abusive at the drop of a hat and we love it! (Credit: ITV)

Kev and Suggers had a romantic reunion

This week we got to meet Kev, Robert’s “secret dying prison husband”. And OMG we love him. LOVE him.

We love everything about him from the way he calls Robert ‘Suggers’, to the clearly smitten way he gazes at him with complete adoration. Who knew Robert Sugden could inspire such devotion, eh?

And then there’s Kev’s unhinged unpredictability. He was so frightening in the prison visiting scene, swapping from chatting lovingly to Suggers (yep, we’re using that name now), to screaming at one of his enemies. Totally hilarious and slightly frightening. Excellent stuff.

Plus, knowing his volatile, violent husband was due another day release from prison, Robert decided it was time to get back together with Aaron. Though he added they should probably keep it quiet for now. Probably a sensible decision, what with Aaron’s killer husband still at large and Robert’s own secret scary husband if not quite at large, then definitely about to be.

We are totally loving this!

We can’t wait so see what’s coming next in this weird love square of killer John, damaged Aaron, cheating Suggers, and secret dying prison husband Kev.

It’s definitely going to be dramatic!
