When does John get caught? Is Aaron leaving Emmerdale? Fan frustration in overdrive as they want answers

John crazy behaviour has got to be over soon

Emmerdale this week is building up (and building up and building up) to John Sugden getting caught – but will that also involve an exit for Aaron Dingle?

It’s fair to say fans are beyond frustrated with the current situation as John continues to stalk around the woods controlling everything and everyone. Aaron is starting to get suspicious however, and dramatic spoilers for next week reveal John jumps over a cliff with his husband in tow.

So we know it’s almost at an end, but there are plenty of twists in the tale yet. Does one of those include an exit for Aaron too? And another stint in prison for Robert?

Will John Sugden be caught out in Emmerdale next week?

It looks very likely that fans will finally see the back of John in the coming weeks. But not necessarily next week…

We know that later this week he will start drugging Aaron to stay in control of his husband. And by next week the scales have definitely fallen from Aaron’s eyes and he’s desperate to make his escape from John.

Robert and John will finally have the confrontation we’ve been waiting for, but the fight leaves Robert unconscious on the ground. He then finds that Aaron has made a run for it and is desperately searching for Mack.

As Aaron is stopped in his tracks by a massive gorge, he turns to find John behind him. John tries to lie his way out of it, but Aaron no longer believes anything he says and begs him to take him to Mack.

However then Robert arrives and John immediately feels betrayed. He calls the police to frame Robert, puts his arms around Aaron and jumps into the gorge.

Robert looks over the edge and dials 999 when he sees them both lifeless. But as they’re taken to hospital, Robert is taken for questioning. Everyone thinks he pushed them off the gorge after John framed him.

And this makes us think John isn’t quite done yet. The only people who can save Robert from going back to prison for a very long time are John and Aaron. But will they wake up or has the fall killed them?

With John still holding all the cards one way or another, it looks like the story will continue even if he is gone.

And does that mean Aaron Dingle is exiting the soap too?

This we don’t know, but we have our fingers crossed as it seems unlikely.

We have been promised a huge Aaron and Mackenzie storyline to run into the autumn – is this it? It seems there’s more to come from this, which would suggest both will survive.

There’s also the fact that we do not have closure on Robron. Of course, Aaron dying would be the ultimate closure. But that can’t be how their story ends – can it?

Things aren’t looking good for Aaron after the cliff fall. Let’s hope he can pull through.

Emmerdale fans fear John won’t be caught until Christmas

Those watching at home have certainly had enough of the John storyline and want him to be caught out now.

“Really. Could this John saga get anymore ridiculous? Long passed its sell by date and bordering on ridiculous now,” said one on social media.

Another agreed: “Oh for God’s sake can we end this John nonsense, it became implausible when you introduced us to his self-contained secret bunker.”

“SURELY we’re coming to an end of this John storyline? They must realise how boring it is?” asked another.

Another agreed: “Man when will John get found out I really can’t stand watching Emmerdale right now. The sooner he gets found out the better, man this storyline has gone on far too long now.”

Others are very worried that he might not go exposed until Christmas.

Taking to Reddit, one fan complained: “It’s gone on for too long and needs to come to a conclusion really soon. It’s getting a bit grating that the village don’t suspect a single thing.

“But this is going to carry on until Christmas, isn’t it?”

Another fan replied: “Oh man, I’m with you, while another said that it ‘wouldn’t surprise them if it lasted until Christmas.’

All we know about when John could be exposed

In a recent interview, actor Oliver Farnworth revealed that his contract runs out in August…

He said: “I knew the length of the initial contract. Because I had a year contract I was drip fed certain things.”

Oliver joined the soap as John in August 2024. He only has a year-long contract, meaning his final scenes should air imminently. Unless, his contract was extended…
