Paddy’s dad was having something of a breakdown before he left. He was lashing out at Paddy and behaving totally out of character. When Paddy was attacked by Celia Daniel’s dog, Bear had a go at him for being weak and pathetic. However he never got there. Paddy opened a package on Friday (November 7) that proved Bear hadn’t been to Ireland at all. And in fact, no one knew where he was. Viewers were then given a glimpse of exactly where he’s been – and he’s a broken man. He fell onto hard times after leaving the village and quickly became involved in a situation way out of his control. We found out on Friday that Bear is being held in a rundown old room by Ray Walters. He is not alone, Anya, the stowaway discovered by Caleb and Ruby last month, is with him. They are both in a bad way, but how did they come to be like this? How does Ray have them held captive so close to home? And why is Bear allowing himself to be treated in this way? Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy Dingle, Bear’s daughter-in-law, has recently told us to expect “harrowing” scenes in this plot. But she insisted it is an important story to tell. So as Mon, Nov 10 unfolds, we know this isn’t going to be a quick fix for Bear. How has he got in this situation? How will he get out? And what will become of him if he does manage to escape?
