ITV Share By Kerry Barrett Aug 16 2025 By Kerry Barrett Aug 16 2025 Charity's pregnant with Ross's baby! April's a drugs mule and Vinny's in trouble. This week's Emmerdale was a lot to take! We're spending way too much time wondering about the workings of Charity's uterus Charity's Surrogacy Features Share By Kerry Barrett Aug 16 2025 By Kerry Barrett Aug 16 2025 Ross is the father of Charity’s baby that she’s supposed to be giving to Sarah and Jacob! WHAT IS HAPPENING? Just when we were all excited about the return of Vanity it turned out to have been a cruel red herring and we should have been focusing on Ross instead. Frankly we’re exhausted and that’s before we get into the whole Vinny/Mike stuff, or April’s stint as a drugs mule. It really has been a HUGE week in Emmerdale and we’re struggling to keep up with it all. Here’s what we thought of it all in this week’s Emmerdale review. Ruby squared up to Manpreet at the Depot (Credit: ITV) Ruby and Manpreet Ruby and Manpreet came to blows this week, then they both got arrested, then Ruby opened up to Manpreet about her abuse and they realised they had more in common than they thought. It was quite the journey. We loved them trading insults – well, Ruby’s were better. We laughed out loud when she told Manpreet to email her concerns to Ruby@Idon’tcare.com. And then we laughed again when Kerry said: “That’s not her real email address.” Manpreet was just plain mean to Ruby – really nasty. We’re wondering if she’s really fit to be a doctor. Mind you, as a village, Emmerdale has been pretty unlucky with its medical staff from serial killer nurse Meena, serial killer paramedic John, unhinged killer nurse Emma Barton, not to mention fake nurse Wendy. Manpreet’s just the latest in a long line! article continues below Read all the latest spoilers Mike may look like a 12-year-old but he was sadistic and cruel (Credit: ITV) Emmerdale review: Evil Mike Things got very dark, very quickly in Vinny’s story this week. He met up with his supposedly supportive new online friend, Mike. But it turned out Mike was a violent scammer who had set Vinny up. He got really nasty, and viciously beat poor Vinny to a pulp. Though fortunately he managed to completely avoid leaving any marks on Vinny’s face so no one could work out what had happened. What luck. The scenes with Mike beating up Vinny were really hard to watch. Almost too much, we thought. We know some viewers were worried they might stop people in a similar position reaching out for help. Vinny ruined the compassion we had for us though, when he blamed Kammy for the whole thing. And bless Kammy, he went along with the lie, bewildered as he was. This storyline is right on the cusp of being Too Much for us. And we’re not sure it’s going to lighten up any time soon. Frightened April carried out a drug drop for Ray but it went wrong. Who could have predicted that, eh? (Credit: ITV) April’s bad decision Emmerdale went a bit Line of Duty as April dropped off a bag for Ray, and someone nicked it. Ray was ever so nice about it, but we’re pretty sure he set the whole thing up and now April and Dylan owe him. April was right when she said her mum would be disappointed in her. Donna would be horrified at how her daughter’s turned out. Mind you it was funny when she got all holier than thou at Marlon for using avocados because they’re linked to organised crime in Mexico. Not sure that’s entirely true, April, but you know what is linked to organised crime? Your new boyfriend. Jacob missed his mum this week (Credit: ITV) Faith and Leyla Speaking of what dead mothers (there are a lot of dead mums in Emmerdale) would think, this week Jacob decided his mum Leyla would be thrilled to bits with being a grandma. While Cain thought Faith would be totally okay with him forking out to implant his daughter’s embryo into her grandmother’s uterus. We can categorically say that neither Leyla nor Faith would have been happy about those things. Because they were not idiots. Is Charity carrying Ross’s baby? (Credit: ITV) Baby blues! And of course the big reveal this week was that Charity is still pregnant. Or pregnant now, when she wasn’t before. Or maybe she was before and now she is again. We’re not sure what’s meant to have happened and we’re no doctors, but we’re not sure it’s even possible. Especially when the mum-to-be is, in fact, a great-grandmother-to-be. And when the father-to-be could be ROSS BARTON! But hey ho, we are nothing if not willing to go along with ridiculous soap storylines. Though this one is really testing us. Because this is BONKERS isn’t it?! Emmerdale’s habit of revealing stuff that happened after the event is beginning to get on our wick. There was nothing between Ross and Charity that night and suddenly they’re baby-making. Riiiiight. A few months ago we’d have been thrilled with a frisson between Ross and Charity, but not like this. Not now. Not after the whole icky surrogacy stuff. If we hated Sarah’s baby demands before, we really, really hate them now. Don’t get on the wrong side of Lewis (Credit: ITV) Best bit of the week Our favourite thing this week was Lewis throwing shade at Robert in the cafe. We’re actually loving Lewis now. He’s funny and barbed and he says it like he sees it. Maybe one day he’ll be allowed outside! Read more: Who’s leaving Emmerdale?
